Genesis - The Floating Nation:
Ages ago, an intergalactic spacecraft from an unknown part of space collided with the planet known as Dividia, sending large chunks of the planet up into the air. Due to the unnatural occurrence, a clash of energies caused the land to remain aloft, creating a floating island chain.
Those in the spacecraft that would later become the foundation of Ghale City could not bring the land masses down. They also could not destroy them, as doing so could cause serious damage to the city-ship. They instead decided to donate computer devices to the islands, using their superior technological knowledge to grant "cloaking" to the lofty lands, making them invisible from sight.
Hundreds of years passed, and over the course of that time, life was born and reborn on the islands. Since there were such advanced computer devices available to them from the start, the beings of the islands became far superior in technology than the planet they had broken away from. Calling the island chain "Genesis," a symbol of a new beginning, the beings formed a political society. Through their own technological genius, they developed environmental atmospheric stabilizers to ensure the ability to breathe correctly as well as the power to keep the islands stationary.
Recently, however, the Ghale City-Ship broke away from Dividia, setting off into space, and in doing so broke the cloaking transmission that had been established with Genesis, causing the floating lands to become visible to all. With the Dark Regime gaining control and their secret revealed, the el-Seikens, the three who control the political structure in Genesis, scrambled to find a way to maintain their utopian-like society, at any costs..

The War Begins - The Age of Oppression:
Days after forming an alliance with New Requia, Genesis was called upon to send their army as reserve to an impending battle with Musha Ikaryu. Taole Mylkin, having been serving as a military representative of Genesis in New Requia, had the Seraph host fall beneath his command upon its arrival at the scene of the conflict. The battle lasted a few hours, and with its completion Taole sent the troops back to Genesis where they could rest.
After a few weeks of 'peace,' three battles occurred without any warming, all within two days, crippling Genesis and nearly extinguishing it as a formidable power. The first two seemed a prelude to the truly devastating finale. The first blow struck as Mennon Leo assaulted Genesis' out-laying island of Avicchire from his floating warship. Transporting a vast host from the vessel down onto Genesis, the horde was soon met with the Seraph army, under the command of Xyrocs Skyrin. Xyrocs' attempt to lead the Seraph host to victory would have ended rather abruptly in Mennon's favor had Mikhale Opterra not appeared on the scene, as his additional forces sent the battle to a grinding halt. No longer able to make headway, Mennon Leo left the Genesis island system, but knew that the citizens of Genesis would fear another assault.
Fast on the heels of the first conflict came another, but its magnitude far less severe despite its disturbing origin. Xyrocs, enraged at Mikhale Opterra's suggestion that Taole was a traitor, launched an assault against him with the remnant of his army. No parlay was reached until the next morning; both forces were completely exhausted. Xyrocs agreed to escort Mikhale to the palace, where he could make his concerns known to Alexander el-Seiken; but as soon as Alexander heard Mikhale's argument he dismissed it.
Genesis' last battle under their proud golden banner was to take place, almost immediately after the other two had resolved, giving the soldiers no time to gather their remaining strength. Orim el-Seiken, at the pleading of his brother Alexander, lead the resistance himself against the opposition of Juza, "The Bastard;" one of the three generals of Mennon Leo. Hope was high, as the battle appeared to be fairing equally on both sides, despite the odds against the Seraph army. Things suddenly changed when the true traitor of Genesis was revealed in Alexander el-Seiken, and his attempted murder of his brother, Orim, in the midst of the battle. Losing heart, the men were unable to fight, and the sudden appearance of the dreaded Durahans made the situation hopeless. As foreseen, the Seraph army failed, and Juza withdrew his forces content in his crushing victory.
Although morally crushed, the people of Genesis had naught to do but go on living, despite the mass suicides and chaos throughout the city. Orim, although wounded by his brother Alexander - who had fled to Juza in the midst of the battle - had not perished and managed to rouse Genesis' people to collect themselves and prepare a defense against new threats. Once mustered together, nobody noticed Orim's evanescence the following day. It was a great while before people remembered him, wondered where he had gone, and why he never returned.
Lamentations - Sorrows Cup:
What was left of the army took control of Genesis, and Xyrocs, who had been horribly wounded during the third battle, renamed the system of islands Lamentations. With that, he left the nation under the control of the Seraph army in a state of martial law, and sought alliances with Mikhale Opterra and New Requia, as Taole had not returned to report successful ties with New Requia. They gladly accepted his proposal
Awakened from self-inflicted isolation from the world, Lamentation, after first seeing to its own necessities, looked to the territories under its shadow. Hoping to wipe clean their memories of apathy, Lamentations launched a program to protect the defenseless plains underneath their city and, expanding their borders, the floating island chain eventually came to govern all the land once known as Lai. Three fortresses were erected to protect the major cities and for the outlying populace to flee to for refuge: Magdala, Korazin, and Khersa. The army grew another two thousand when Lamentations allowed other humanoids to become naturalized into their population, and everyone became equal when unified against such a dire foe.
Magdala - The Mountain Pass:
A city resting peacefully in a mountain pass filled with pines, Magdala was for a while without knowledge of the horrible wars that crossed over the land. However, tragedy struck, and they realized they were without adequate defenses to abate the evil trudging ever nearer unto their unprotected populace. Realizing the tragedy readily evoked by their lack of defense, Magdala poured all their efforts into building a mammoth wall across either side of the mountain path; a single gate upon each side.
Still, walls are useless without an army to defend them, and Magdala lacked the necessary army. However, hope arose when they found themselves merged with the Empire of Lamentations. Tears of joy falling over their faces as the army under the command of Saraih Ayshoar marched to their aide, she remaining to garrison the denizens of Magdala.
Korazin - The City On A Lake:
Resting upon a lake was once a proud city, ruined by war, and then slowly recuperating. However, the soul of the people had been lost and they no longer looked forward to happiness of survival. Korazim had become a slum and the people there in poverty; yet still, to proud to ask for help.
When Lamentations took them under their wing, the people of Korazim seemed to lack humility, wishing to remain aloof from the larger nation. However, with time comes acceptance and with acceptance comes friendship, thus a bond was formed between Korazim and Lamentations. At the expanse of the floating nation, walls were rebuilt around the lake city, and towers constructed to aide in it's defense. Garrisoned there as well was a large army, lest the people there be stricken once again with an attack.
So was Korazim raised from the dust to where it once was, and the people rejoiced, refusing such a painful downfall to bind them again, forever.
Khersa - The Eastern Gate:
Khersa, established as the "Eastern Gate" of what was once the Lai empire soon after the departure of Ghale, remains a strategic point in the defense of Lamentations newly forged kingdom. As the swiftest and most strategic invasion path into Lamentations was from Khersa into the heart of the kingdom, the city’s the city’s defense was bolstered a watch placed over the city.
The denizen’s of Khersa had much to be prideful over the armored city and army they’d built from a mere walled village of peasants, as well as being the Eastern Gate to a great nation they were happy to have become a part of. The youth longed to join the military, and those who could not put their abilities to work in finding better technology for stronger and lighter weapons. Nationalism soared high in Khersa; and to fight for Lamentations was an honor that the men waited each out to come.
Truly, if Lamentation’s itself was the heart of the empire, Khersa was the soul --powering the will of the rest of the kingdom from it’s own unsinkable fortitude.
On his return from New Requia, Xyrocs found himself unable to control the vast territories alone. In order to combat the issue, Xyrocs instituted governor-generals, former colonels in the Seraph army. These leaders were given absolute power within their domains, answerable only to Xyrocs until the government could be restored, and until a true leader returned to rule Lamentations.
One after another, the generals proved unable to meet their commands. First Khersa fell under the wrath of the Dark Regime, followed by Korazim when Yggrasil attacked. A battle was waged to recapture Khersa, but it failed. Desperate, Lamentations forged a treaty with the Vandal Empire, a treaty that allowed both nations to access to one another's resources. Yggrasil was unable to compete with two nations, and abandoned Korazin. Further justice was laid out, and Yggrasil was extinguished as the Vandal legions captured their capitol.
Xyrocs' reason left him after that, and he led the Seraph army in an attack to reclaim Khersa. The events following are unclear, but the following day nothing remained of Xyrocs, his army, or the floating island system of Lamentations. Reports of gargantuan explosions at both sites are the only clues to what really happened.
FORMER REALITY STREAM
End of the Age:
Once the astral kiosks had failed the sky islands of Lamentations collapsed, and immediately it was as if the world had ended for everyone under the protection of the New Requia-Lamentations alliance. Lamentations, when known as Genesis, hovered above the city of Ghale --- a civilization that had departed, leaving behind ruins and a massive cavern system beneath the fractured remnants of the city. When the sky-islands fell, they crushed these ruins, trapping hundreds of refugees within the extensive caverns. This tragedy allowed them to survive the Dark Regime as it swept across Dividia. It was as if they had been forgotten.
Khersa had been obliterated during the clash of Xyrocs' army and the Dark Regime; scourged so badly that it would be called a cursed waste for all time to come. Magdala held out for a considerable time with the aid of the Vandal Empire, but it was only a matter of time before the Dark Regime overwhelmed them. Sariah Ayshoar, the general of Magdala, committed suicide just moments before the Hex Cannon damned the city. Empires toppled, leaving isolated cities to fend for themselves. When the cities were methodically destroyed by the Hex Cannon, those who survived were hunted down by the seemingly omnipresent legions of the Dark Regime. Then it was over.
The world had been ripped apart; once lush and beautiful it was now a desert. Rivers and lakes polluted, oceans turned black, and forests transformed into petrified reminders of the past. A very few survived, and they made every effort to forget their past.
LATTER REALITY STREAM
A Mysterious Descent:
After the explosion of the Astral Kiosks, which had powered Lamentations, the city was shaken from Dividia's stream of reality. During the interim period, it seemed as if time froze. Age was all but halted, and a thousand years may have slipped by without notice. This changed suddenly with the fading of three worlds, each one metaphysically connected to the other. Passing through the rift, Lamentations violently re-entered time and space. Crashing down from the sky, it crushed the land below, leveling every building and decimating the population.
Within the passing of a week, most of the dead were laid to rest. Lamentations had lost eight-seven-percent of its population to the grave, leaving less than ten-thousand. With the most immediate concerns cared for, Lamentations' leaders began developing ways to defend against possible aggression, even to the point of speculating on a new city-site for them to live in, as the 'islands' seemed no longer capable of supporting life.
While searching for a suitable location to reconstruct Lamentations, as any recovery on the fallen sky islands had been deemed hopeless, scouts began bringing back reports of the sickly nature of this world's inhabitants; how they were reclusive, almost spectral in their mannerisms - even the animals. Unaffected by the apparent pestilence themselves, the citizens of Lamentations were soon made a scapegoat, blamed by the directionless dwellers of the world they had fallen into.
Reconstruction in a Strange Land:
Although Mylion Vaught had been recovered from the wreckage (and later vanished) of Lamentations, Taole Mylkin was not so sure that there were no survivors, and found it perturbing that the Prince had dug his way up from beneath the fallen sky-city. Selecting a mining crew from amongst the remaining citizens, the project to turn the main island to sheer dust commenced. When the crew had dug their way down to ground-level, where-at they found an interesting discovery.
A massive strain of silver-colored material was embedded in a bed of near-impenetrable stone, forming a strange pattern. Taole ordered that it be removed from the ground, so he could analyze it, which continued amidst grumbling and complaining. While this was taking place, Taole returned to the new-city construction site, to find the foundation was rather disturbed, as the ground kept reforming to its original form, shattering the buildings upon it.
Since Taole ordered the main island of Lamentations be reduced to dust, the symbol discovered in the search of New Requia's survivors (of which there were none) had been thoroughly excavated, but could not be removed. Relics, dating back to a period long before the Ghale City-Ship crashed into Dividia and Genesis had been born, had been found during the mining, embedded deep in the rock of the island. Intrigued, Taole issued more orders, and the remaining islands were destroyed, but carefully so, to preserve any additional artifacts found.
Several weeks later, when every island had been removed, thousands of relics had been discovered. Shards from a distant past, which were catalogued, and stored safely in a vault by the river, south of the new-city site. None in Lamentations were able to make sense of the massive rune on the ground, or the fragments discovered in the islands, so Taole cast it from his mind for the time being - after all, he had an empire to raise.
Massive progress had been made: more than the simple construction of a city. Harvested from the debris of Lamentations was Azpasciet, a luminous blue crystal capable of conducting astral currents. Milled into small, perfectly smooth discs, these were surgically placed into the right palm of every citizen of Lamentations. The remaining mineral was melted down, placed into a mold, and upon emergence as a large multi-faceted crystal, placed into the partially constructed astral kiosk.
Past embitterment drove Taole to rename the shattered empire, as the past had lost any purpose when the kingdom shifted into another world. Lamentations became Lamentsia. The celebration for the renaming of the kingdom was held at the completion of the astral kiosk, and miners had set to work to remove the plateau from the mountain, in hopes that the city would fly once more. The plateau was enormous, but not nearly the size the sky islands had been. The selection for where the kiosk, and the shrine containing it, were to be placed was rather auspicious, as it was elevated above the strange silver grain running through the plateau by pylons of solid rock.
With the success of the mining operation, in which the plateau was removed from the mountain, and the completion of the Astral Kiosks and mass surgical operations of Lamentsia's citizens, the city had finally taken flight. As fate would have it, its position was precisely one mile above the original fall site of Lamentations, the shrine containing the room directly above that on the ground far below.
Lamentsia - The MegaCorp.:
A desperate need for money arose as Lamentsia required food for its citizens, and prepared for the possibility of taxation being imposed by Cayvian Tyme, Emperor of Agustria. Without time to establish an agricultural foothold, Lamentsia resorted to incorporation; a much more streamlined approach to managing government and funds. Now Lamentsia was Lamentsia Inc., a fledgling MegaCorp., in desperate and immediate need of a product they could market to the entire world.
Hope grew with the new era dawning for Lamentsia Inc., as the city rose to the heavens and her citizens were reborn in a telepathic collective. Invigorated by the fresh, thin air above the clouds, they could once more think clearly, and soon solved the problem of spatial isolation with the world below. Through the powerful telepathic union, the Sernaix was formed; an ethereal helix of shadowy currents piercing the center of the sky city, its massive column connecting Lamentsia to the world below.
Such a dire emphasis was placed on finding a suitable product to market that many things, which should not have been forgotten, where lost. Ancient shards, found deep in the marrow of the sky islands, were now stored within a vault inside the shrine, untouched; and the two massive runes (one beneath the shrine and the other upon the ground far below, bathed in the haze of the Sernaix) were no longer being observed, unless it was for natural beauty alone. So deep was the preponderance, that none heard the sound of hooves storming from the earth below Lamentsia the night the Sernaix was conceived.
When Lamentsia Inc. decided on what products to manufacture, the swiftly-surmounted issue of marketing arose, where-at it was decided a selection of Lamentsia Inc.'s employees would wander abroad and advertise them by word of mouth. Updates on what products were available at what prices weren't a problem, as every citizen had a Azpasciet disc implant, allowing them to immediately share information as transmitted via the astral kiosk.
The lion's share of products were targeted at peasants: children's toys, household necessities, as well as other decorative trappings, such as tapestries and stoneware. These are generally inexpensively made items, still bearing the mark of superior craftsmanship the citizens of Lamentsia have long prided themselves on, making them desirable luxuries to the unfortunate beings that dwell far below. This has proven to be the main source of Lamentsia Inc.'s income.
More expensive and exclusive items are also manufactured, to a lesser degree, by Lamentsia Inc. The targeted populations for these items are nobility, and the wealthy in general. To acquire these items, one must come to Lamentsia Inc. itself to make the selection. As a rule, Lamentsia Inc. is currently manufacturing no items intended for war, or with an intentional design to inflict damages. Additionally, the MegaCorp. waives any legal responsibilities to harm caused due to misuse of its products.
Rizai`Mon - ^3092
- Hand-carved statuettes of mythical beasts and other fairy-tale creatures, designed to simulate an entity-companion. Each one has a small Eizcikar rune-inlay over the chest. These are connected to their owner via a small wooden ring, with an Eizcikar rune-inlay bearing an identical rune-pattern to the Rizai`Mon statuette. To activate, one must touch the Eizcikar rune-inlay of the ring to that upon the statuettes, upon-which it will transform itself into a slightly translucent copy of the beast it was crafted to mimic.
Luraliis Drivaon - ^2074 - 10,731
- A brand name for the expensive Eizcikar jewelry, prized by its seductive mixture of light and material, and especially its rarity admidst the regular population. This mineral can only be found in Lamentsia, as it was mined from the debris of the now-destroyed sky islands. As fame of its beauty spreads, Lamentsia Inc. can only hope that the world's nobility are willing to pay its high price.
These products greatly boulstered the coffers of Lamentsia with their continual sales, but when Emperor Greig of Sandeoria appeared on the scene as a client, he had another type of purchase in mind. Seeing they stood to make incredible profits, Lamentsia began the production of dreadful weapons of war. Thus far, Sandeoria has been the only nation to purchase such products, but Lamentsia is willing to play both sides for greater affluaence.
Aemezk Sphere Kit - ^18,037 :: Discontinued
- A hollow, multi-facetted, spherical framework of crystalline composition, which releases a neurologically-based poison into the air when shattered, this capable of reducing any creature within a quarter mile of the sphere into violent spasms in a matter of minutes, which almost always result in death. A launch kit is supplied with the sphere, much like that of a catapult.
Two years had passed, and Lamentsia Inc. had finally established itself as a company, exchanging fine products for the wealth of post-war Agustria, which, as a nation, was becoming incredibly affluent. The area of Lamentsia's production had become more peace-oriented, ranging from archeological necessities, to household knick-knacks, to items used in everyday life.
Lamentsia's sky-city had grown to four islands hovering in the sky, carved out of the side of a mountain and raised into the air through the will of Lamentsia's denizens. Two were solely for agricultural purposes, where they managed to raise in the crisp, thin air a harvest unique to their former pallet when they lived above Dividia. The other was a replacement cemetery, containing the remnants of their cherished departed, most of whom were lost when Sandeoria's necromancers summoned their bodies from the ground to achievetheir diabolic bidding --- something never forgiven by Lamentsia.
During this economic blossoming of Lamentsia Inc., the founder, Taole Mylkin, observed it was time to expand the business. Less expensive products were inconvenient to ship to customers individually, and it was decidedly more equitable to build small stores throughout Agustria, where clients would be able to shop for goods with greater expediency. Few Lamentsians were willing to leave their sky-bound city for this purpose, so another decision was made: to hire help from the outside to man the stores. This was how Lamentsia Inc.'s first franchises were born.
Genesis Army Stats:
The hosts of Genesis prior to their first engagement in the wars against the Dark Regime: averaging ten thousand in number, consisting of five sections: Gengonse, Defenders, Archers, Monks and Spearmen (Lancers). Respectively, each section contains 2000.
Special Unit - Gengonse:
Much like airborn cavalry are the Gengonse aback their tamed creatures of flight. Heavily armored, capable of supporting a great weight with ease these animals are perfectly suited for melee fighting while mounted. Resting upon backs of these are the Gengonse themselves, armed with a bow; whereas instead of wood it is a one sided blade attached to their arm able to be used as a shield and also an aggressive device; and arrows which they can fire with relatively good measure at their victims below.
