Ages ago, an intergalactic spacecraft from an unknown part of space collided with the planet Dividia. The clash caused much earthen debris to remain aloft, forming a sky-island system later called Genesis. A city, Ghale, was built over the alien vessel and astral kiosks were constructed on the sky-islands, concealing both from Dividia's native inhabitants. Those who had seen the event were forced to live on Genesis, isolated from the world but well looked after. Elsewhere, a people fled their homeland, settling down shore of Ghale and later forming the Kingdom of Requia. They were befriended by the people of Ghale, whose influence had spread over the surrounding territory to form the Lai Empire.
Then the people of Ghale left, and with them the technology that had secretly protected much of Dividia. Genesis ceased to be hidden and Requia was exposed to invasion. Alliances amongst other nations shattered and uncertainty crept in. It wasn't long after that Mennon Leo and the Dark Regime surfaced, coloring the land in blood and darkness.
Requia was forced beneath the ruins of Ghale, which had crumbled in the wake of the spacecraft's departure. Along with them were Dividians from other nations, struggling to escape the onslaught brought by Mennon Leo. Genesis, unable to communicate with the world below, knew nothing of the danger. Then the attacks came; wave after wave of battles. Eventually, the islands fell from the sky, crushing what was left of the Ghale civilization beneath it, and below that Dividia's refugees.
Mennon Leo's schemes transformed the land into a great desert. Survivors lived without hope. Even after Mennon Leo's departure, life was difficult. Groups of people banded together in nomadic tribes, scavenging and fighting for the few resources available; they also developed an idyllic folklore to replace their painful history.
Dividian civilization had somehow survived belowground, suffering greatly but flourishing as a culture in undisturbed incubation. After sufficient time had passed to restore stability, they came out of their subterranean palaces to face the world above. A desert stretching onward in every direction met their eyes. Undaunted, they used the ruins of Genesis and Ghale to construct a fortress, reminiscent of their cavernous home and laced with nuances of their long-destroyed civilizations; they named it Lin-Laness.
Then the Pharidans found them, and with them the deceiver.
Coup d'état, raids, wars, and plagues struck the world of the Pharidans in the wake of Autun's appearing. Nigh all Dividian history was exterminated, from Ascentia to Lin-Lannes, cities now little more than craters. Half of Bel`Lanar Crescent’s great cities were lost to the scourge, and the Dysmuth faction splintered to forgotten remnants.
In the great suffering, the Pharidan’s true moral fiber was shown as filth. Cities became islands surrounded by a sea of death, and within them abominations flourished. The human sacrifice of the Order of Texovinae became rampant and lascivious acts transpired endlessly on the steps of the temple. Apathy and greed became the new religion, and children were bred solely for their flesh as meat and blood as wine. Men fought dogs for bones, and murder was commonplace.
This was the peace of Autun.
It was a sick peace and it long outlasted the battle between Jurion and Autun, a struggle where self-sacrifice proved far greater than arrogance and blasphemy.
Despite all this, hope survived in the catacombs of what was once Mal Halus; an order protecting a distant secret restoring the land. It is known as the Goddess Seed.
