It was twelve years before Anatem's vanishing that the
Yggdrasil Empire rose from the sands of the Samseru desert, wraiths concealed in
the blankets of gold and orange that hung proudly as their banners. In the
forefront of the lines, flagged by his four elite guards, the Phoenix Watch,
Tide Bennamor rode upon his sandskiff, theAltavair, Andronicus risen over
his head. Behind him, an endless sea of his troops marched in unison to the beat
of his wardrums. Hundreds of sandfliers hummed in cadence to the magic that held
them afloat. The ground reverberated with the rythm of the footsoldiers as they
marched onward to claim their next victory. In their wake, they left behind the
legacy that only their leader, Tide, could have provided...
Prior to the
forming of the Empire, Yggdrasil plundered the sands of the Samseru desert as a
band of thieves and pirates, pillaging villages, stealing from nobles, and
generally leading a lawless life. One of their many raids included the desert
outpost of Noferia, home to the young half-beastman, half-human, Tide Bennamor.
The young boy watched in horror as his home was plundered. He was captured by
the Yggdrasil pirates and made a slave like the others of his town. But in the
ensuing years, he would use his inborn strength from his beastman heritage and
his natural leadership abilities and ambition to rise from slave, to pirate,
from pirate, to leader. Overthrowing the Yggdrasil priate's current leader, he
assumed his role and took on the task of rising them to greatness. The desert
bandits became a feared, growing power in the eastern lands, toppling one town
after the other, moving onto larger targets such as cities. Eventually, they
raided an entire small kingdom, and effortlessly assimulated them into their
whole. It was on that day, 10 years after his capture, that the Yggdrasil Empire
was formed...
In the following two years, Tide would work closely at
adding the Beastmen tribes native to the Samseru desert to the ranks of the
Yggdrasil Empire, coaxing them into believing that they were unified as a means
to ensure peace and prosperity in the east. Totally unlike a young adult of his
age, or any leader, Tide's ambition often madeh im manipulative, bending those
who did not agree with him until he did, his goal for power foremost on his
mind. Two years passed by, in which the beastmen and other cities were added to
the Empire. Technology was expanded, new sandfliers developed, and his army was
formed.
It was then that Anatem, the divinity and ever protector of
Dividia, vanished, and with his disappearence came the Dark Regime, a massive
army led by Mennon Leo. Wielding hte awesome power of the Hex Cannon, Mennon
slowly began to claim the world of Dividia as his own...
Thus the Faction
Wars came to be, reborn kingdoms of the old world or newly banded ones rising
and battling against one another in effort to become the strongest power in the
world and challenge the might of the Dark Regime. Upon discovering this, Tide
realized that this would be his greatest chance to achieve his goal of scarring
the planet with his name. Under his leadership, the Empire rode forth from the
desert to challenge the other factions. But Tide new better then to run
headfirst into battle. He knew his people would need reason for war, and thus he
would forge it himself. Sending a contingent of his army into one of the western
continent's cities, he allowed them to be annihilated by the vast power of the
Hex Cannon -- knowing of their fate before he even sent them into the other
continent. But his plans unfolded perfectly, and the people of the Yggdrasil
Empire rallied as a whole and protested against the Dark Regime. His army
doubled in size, and soon his Empire's frame of mind was set only on War. Thus
did the Yggdrasil Empire become the fourth faction...
